Birthdays

I usually only make cards when I need one, I hate spending that much time on these when I could be doing layouts which I prefer spending my time on. But I have Greg's birthday on the 29th, Kristin's 30th and my nephew Ben's is on the 2nd. So I've spent today working on cards that I need!

Altered Box

I altered this crayon box for a swap at Scrap City. The Xyron really comes in handy with covering a box with paper, much more efficient than glue.

Even Better Coupon

This one was a mistake but they are honoring the coupon for 40% of your entire purchase!

Blog Giveaway

I saw this on Pinky's blog. Vanillia Joy is having a crafty giveaway everyday this week. Go on over there and enter to win Cricut today. They are having a different prize everyday and they are giving away some awesome stuff!

Crazy About Clips

This week's challenge at SYC is to use any kind of clip on your layout, paper clips, binder clips and kind! There is no minimum just try and use as many as you can. I used 4 on this layout of Cassie in Equador. I love this Bo Bunny paper and it was perfect for this layout with the green and hot pink.

No Training Wheels

My creative juices have not been flowing this weekend, but I did manage to get one layout done. I cut the yellow cardstock out using a template that I made from a piece of patterned paper in that shape and then sewed it to the polka dot patterned paper. I cut the title and the fours from the Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge, I am really loving this cartridge. I had gotten to where I seldom used the Cricut, but this cartridge has some really cool functions, I also cut the tiny frame from the same cartridge.

Logen is a natural on the bike his Momma just held on to the back for a few seconds and he was off!

Glitter

I read an article that stated the best way to apply glitter to chipboard was with Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze...wrong! The best way is to run it through the Xyron, the top border was done with the Xyron and the bottom one was done by applying Glossy Accents with a paint brush. It is obvious which was is the best! I just thought I would pass that tip along so your don't make the same mistake that I did.

Please Vote!

Kristin took her first opportunity to vote very seriously. I am so proud of her for keeping informed of the issues and making her choices based on what she believes. Her grandmother was the Election Register for the county and I supposed it has been ingrained in her the importance of voting. I believe that today's teens are more conscious of importance of voting have witnessed the events of 9/11 at a young age. I know that Kristin cares about the future of this country. I believe that we all should feel that way and go vote, it's your civic responsibility. I hope that I have influenced someone to vote.

It was a primary that she voted in and the voter turn out was extremely low. All the poll workers made a big deal of her casting her first vote and gave her a round of applause, she wasn't embarrassed as I would have been she loved the attention!

Simply Kristin

I just didn't want to add much to this photo so I just cut out part of the patterned paper and added some bling which makes this layout simply Kristin. It's her style, simple but pile on the bling (jewerly)!

This was another layout out I did last weekend for the Scrapadilly crop and I won a very cool package of Cosmo Cricket paper.

Punch It Out!

This week's challenge at Scrap Your Crap is to use at least 3 punches on a layout. I used 4 on this layout of Cassie in Equador.

8-16-77 A Moment In Time

It's "Death Week" in Memphis so when I had a challenge to scrap a moment in time I thought of Elvis. 8-16-77 is one of those day's that you remember where you were when you heard that Elvis had died. Thousands of people still flock to Memphis from all over the world for the candlelight vigil held every year at Graceland on the day he died.

2 More Down

More layouts for the Scrapadilly weekend crop. The crop lasts through today so I am going to see how many more I can get done today. I would love to win the prize!

These challenge were to use an altered piece of chipboard and create a layout with butterflies.

Pool Time

Another layout for Scrapadilly's weekend crop. This one had to be an activity you only do in the summer. Here's Christian and Chandler in the pool.

RAK Winner-Amy

Fellow blogger and Fiskateer Amy won my RAK. Congrats Amy!

Weekend Crop At Scrapadilly

Scrapadilly is having a weekend crop with some great prizes and challenges. The challenge on this layout was to make a page using 5 or less things, mine were 1. Cardstock 2. Cardboard 3. Brads 4. Scalloped border 5. White pen. I got the idea from the beggers with the cardboard signs saying "Will Work For Food"!

Kristin will probably look back on this years from now and wish gas was $4.00 a gallon!

PS: I will draw a name for the RAK tomorrow at noon CST, so you still have time to post a comment on the post from 8/13 "Play Hard". I have quite a pile of stuff from my stash, ribbon, stickers and stamps.

Pinwheel Tutorial

Cut a 3 inch square from double sided patterned paper.

Find center of square and poke a hole, then cut each corner to about 1/4 inch of center, then poke a small hole on the right side of the cut.

Fold the edge with hole in it to the center, line up all 4 holes with the hole in the center and secure with a brad.

That's it...easy!

To keep it from squishing up in the page protector put foam dots under the folds.

Don't forget the blog candy on the post below!

Play Hard

This layout is for the sketch challenge at Scrap City. Most everything on this page is from Noel's latest kit. I cut the title from a new Cricut cartridge called Graphically Speaking, I really like this cartridge and I hope I start using my Cricut more often.

I've finished all the challenges for Scrap City this month. Can anyone give me some good challenge blogs, I'm not crazy about sketches or cards? And since I haven't had a RAK in awhile I will draw a name from the comments on this post to win a scrappy package of happy mail from my stash, I just got a huge order from Frugalities and I would love to share.

edited: I will put your name in for the RAK even if you just leave a comment, but please somebody tell where to find some good challenges. And by the way, don't just come here for the RAK and never come back again, come visit often! lol Anyone is welcome to add me to their list.

ps. I will put a tutorial up tomorrow on how to make the pinwheels. I use them instead of flowers on my boy pages sometimes and they are really easy to make!

Blog of the Week

I am thrilled to get this honor and I didn't even know about this site but they made my blog their blog of the week. Check it out www.everythingcricut.blogspot.com

Take a Hike!

Cassie went to Equador for month this summer to live with a family there and get a Spanish credit. She gets her adventurous ways from her Daddy! I still can't believe she went and she loved it!

This is for Scrap City's technique challenge this month it was to use paint on your layout. I created a mat with paint.

Vellum eeeewwww!!!

You know you have it and you know you hate it, so why not use it up? Join us this week at Scrap Your Crap and get rid of that vellum.

I used on this layout to make waves and I used it ove the photo and torn away the middle.

This is Chandler and Christian in Florida last month.

Surfer Dude

Chandler with a very cool looking board in Florida last month. I left the journaling spot blank for him to fill in.

I used Scrap City's first ever kit on this layout. The paper is We R Memory Keepers and of course Thicker letters.

I Have My Life Back!

I was skeptical about all raves concerning Stephenie Meyers Twilight series of books until I picked up the first one August 1st. I have now read all four books in a little over a week. They were all consuming so beware if you start to read these you can't do anything else!

Altered Letters

I bought these letters a few months ago for $1.50 at Hobby Lobby with the intention of altering them. Scrap City's altered challenge this month is wooden letters, so this was a great time to do these for Cassie's dorm room. The owl is her sorority's symbol and her bedding is pink and brown.

Princess Cassie

I actually completed a layout that wasn't part of a challenge! Cassie had to dress as a "famous person" for a party and she choose Princess Grace.

The patterned paper is SEI that punched a border around, I used pearl brads, some silver screen and silver string.

What's This?

What is this? A foggy picture because it's so hot and humid that when I walked outside the lens on camera fogged up!

I found the coolest blog Cheeky Magpie and she shares some really great stuff, the template for this is on her site! I found her site via Cathy's blog. Anyway, here's what it is!

I Can't Put This Down!

I have seen so many bloggers that were reading this book that my curiosity made me buy this book at Target yesterday. It was in the young adult section but I bought it and didn't even read the description of the book, so I had no idea what is was about. I started reading it last night and I am about half way through this almost 500 page book! There are 3 more books in this saga, so I will probably have my nose in a book for the next month!

Ugly Paper

What do you do with ugly paper? I am a patterned paper hoarder and I have some really ugly paper. Cathy sent me a cute little notebook for my birthday, so I took her idea (her paper wasn't ugly!) and used my ugly paper to make notebooks for my daughter to take to college. She loved them and I got rid of some ugly paper!
