My Hero!

I seem to be using a lot of brown and blue together, but for this picture it works. I really grunged up these chipboard letters and then applied glossy accents on top.

The Derby St. Band

I came up with the title for this page when I was having a problem getting my photos printed at Walgreen's and on the phone they were telling me which pics they had and the guy said:"I've got a picture of a band." So the Derby St. Band was born!

The technique: I finally used those Heidi Swapp ghost letters I bought months ago, I used alcohol ink to color them yellow and ran them through the xyron for adhesive. I wish they came in a smaller size.

Day 29-LOAD

Had to make a quickie today so here's page 2 of Dancing with the Stars. I used my new Hot Marks tool to "write" the names on the photo, the tool actually burns the photo so you have to be quick writing before it turns brown.

Make A Marine's Day

Major Sneden is serving our country in the Marines in Iraq. His birthday is coming up soon and a call was put out from a fellow scrapbooker to make his day and send him a birthday card, his address is:

Major Stefan R.W. Sneden
4th Tanks D. Co.
Unit: 41800
FPO AP 96426-1800

We can all whip up a handmade card from scraps in a matter of seconds, so get to it!

Noel's Card Challenge

I made a set of Valentine's Day cards for Noel's card challenge this weekend.

Fiskateers

I have to share this site: http://www.fiskateers.com/

I'm not sure how I stumble upon it but I'm glad I did. You just have to email one of the Fiskateers and they will email you back a link to join. You get a free pair of fiskars scissors for joining and they have contests and challenges to win other prizes. The message board is very active and members post challenges and form groups to crop together online.

Day 27 of LOAD

My layout a day page for today was fun! The pictures of Logen and Casey with Superman Capes on made me smile through the whole process.
I have gotten so many pages done this month, I may keep up the LOAD challenge for February.

Happy Saturday

Here's LOAD entry for today and also my 30 minute Thursday entry. I put the brads on just to try and use a few. My brad stash multiplies like rabbits!

Matchbook Journaling

In this layout I used an old matchbook, took it apart, covered it with patterned paper, cut journal paper to size and stapled it back together. When you have a lot to say and no room on your page this works great. I put mine in the transparent pocket, but you could attach the matchbook to your layout. This was from a Todd Snider concert.

Universal Letter Writing Week

Today's layout was for a contest/challenge at http://www.simplescrapbooks.com/ This layout really was a challenge and took most of the day for me to complete, but it is probably the most unique page I have created.

My Layout of the Day

Day 23, only 8 more!

Could this day get any better?

I was excused from Jury Duty today, the case I was on settled before the trial started. So no more jury duty for at least 10 years. Then I get home and my order from frugalities was waiting on my front porch (YES)!

Ugly Stickers

The layout I did yesterday is a great way to use up letter stickers. I hate letter stickers, but I have hundreds of them! If the stickers are repositionable you can use them as I did below, just stick them on, then use a thin coat of acrylic paint over the top, let the paint dry and then take them off.

Click on the layout below, "My Space", to see how cool it looks up close!

Jury Duty

You won't get much creative advice from me this week, I am fulfilling my civic duty and spending my days in the jury pool. Either that or be held in contempt of court, I don't know which is worse! Anyway, I did manage to finish my layout for the LOAD challenge.

More Altered Garbage

Amy...here's my rendition of this week's challenge. I love the idea of putting treats and gift cards in and hanging it on the door! Thanks for a great project.

Before After

Layout and Tip of the Day

When you finish a layout don't put those scraps away! Use your scraps to make a card or two. That's much better than filing them away and forgetting to use the leftovers. After I finished this layout I had enough scraps to make two cards. Even better idea don't put the card away instead drop a line to a friend and make their day.

My Pocket Page

I went to the Dancing With The Stars live performance last night in Nashville and I couldn't wait to get home today to create this page. They were handing out the 10 paddle but it was too big for my page, so I scanned it and made it smaller and used a craft stick as the handle. The pocket contains our tickets, program and my journaling. I had a great time at the show and doing this layout.

My Layout of the Day

Another office product inspired layout. Tip of the day: look at everyday things around you to get ideas for a layout. Magazine ads, billboards, the colors in your favorite sweater and home decor catalogs or websites are just a few ideas.

Today's LOAD Page

Altered Junk Mail

These press board boxes where junk mail from AOL, I kept them because I knew I could do something with them. So to meet a Valentine's Day challenge from The Caffeinated Cropper I made this picture frame.

Looky What I Found

I found these in the office supply section of Target for $1.99. I went to a Scrapbook Trends class and the office & school supply look was the subject.

Great Tip of the Day

If you're like me you have a tons of chipboard and sticker letters with lots of a Q,X and Zs leftover.

Use your Zs on a layout of a sleeping baby, dog or cat, or any one catching some ZZZZZZZZs. The X and Q-cut the Q to make it an O, then use them both in XOXO (Hugs and Kisses), and Valentine's Day is coming so use XOXO on your cards. Also, a U can become and N when you turn upside down in some letters sets.

Totally off this subject but http://frugalities.com/ has a 49% off everything today and at that price I totally broke my resolution of not buying supplies until I use up some stash!

Another Cheap Find

I found this foam stamp in the stencil section of Hobby Lobby for .99 cents. I use it all the time, usually with acrylic paint. There were several other stamps that I bought like this one, but this one is probably the most used.

No cardstock

I challenged myself today to make a page with no cardstock in order to try to put a dent in all the patterned paper that I collect and never use. See Layout below.

Now I issue the same challenge to fellow scrappers out there!

Happy Wednesday

Lain's LOAD challenge over a Big Picture has definitely been a challenge! Creating at least one page a day was fun at first, then you sit down to scrap one day and uh oh SCRAPPER'S BLOCK.

But I got through it I did a multi-picture layout which is the hardest for me, so it really was a challenge. I dug into my unusual stash of supplies and came up with this one, see The Boys layout.

Another money saver, I painted some small stencils, used some ribbon like yarn and staples. Also, grommets from the sewing section of the craft store. Just get out of the scrapbook section of the craft store and you can find all kinds of things.

Outside the Box-The Hardware Store

My Friends layout below features one of my hardware store finds. The black mesh I found in screen dept. I got a hugh roll of the stuff for $6. I can see several ways to use it, the Friends layout I made the hearts out of wire and then secured them to the screen.

It would be great to cut in squares, it cuts easily, and mount charms with wire. You could mat pictures, use on an alter art project and many other ways.

I also bought some washers and a skeleton key. Best of all, these things were WAY cheaper than buying at the local scrapbook store. Just go roam around Home Depot or Lowe's and you can find all sorts of goodies!

Money Saver!

I discovered a great money saving tip. I love brads and use them on most of my pages. I bought a packaged of 100 brass brads in the office supply section of my grocery store for $1.00. For real one penny a piece.
Now here's what I do with them, I make them whatever color I need by using embossing powder. For this page I needed black so I just poked the brad in VersaMark, then dipped it in the powder and heated. You could use any color ink and then use clear embossing powder, the possibilities are endless!

Finally Did IT!

I started my blog today! Whew, now I've had enough of the computer today.
